After aging a Negroni for two weeks in an oak barrel I decided to give the cocktail a taste test.
The oak added depth and complexity to the Negroni. The flavor is subtle but you can taste the oak. I’m going to continue the aging process for another 1-2 weeks to see if the flavor intensifies.
11 oz Gin
11 oz Sweet Vermouth
11 oz Campari
Combine all ingredients and pour into a 1 Quart (1L) oak barrel. Age for 2-4 weeks before serving. When ready to serve, stir all ingredients with ice, strain, and serve in a chilled glass. Makes 11 cocktails.
The Modern Bartender
I purchased my oak barrel from The Modern Bartender in Vancouver, BC.
