Sazerac Cocktail Recipe

Drop by and enjoy a Sazerac cocktail at St Lawrence restaurant in Vancouver, BC Canada.

The Sazerac is a classic cocktail that remains popular today. Originating in New Orleans, the Sazerac cocktail is named for the Sazerac de Forge et Fils brand of cognac brandy that was the original main ingredient.

1 ½ oz Rye Whiskey or Cognac
¼ oz Absinthe
1 Sugar Cube
3 Dashes Peychaud’s Bitters

Rinse an old-fashioned glass with absinthe. To chill the glass, add ice.

Stir the remaining ingredients over ice. Discard the ice and excess absinthe from the glass, and strain the ingredients into the chilled glass. Add a lemon peel for garnish and serve neat or with ice.
