Boker’s Bourbon Sour Recipe

This classic Bourbon Sour recipe features Seattle bartender Jaime Boudreau’s handcrafted Boker’s Cocktail Bitters.

Boker’s was originally invented by John G. Boker in 1828 but has been out of commission since the 1920’s and Prohibition. In 2009, a small remaining sample was discovered and used to recreate the recipe we have today.

Ingredients

2 oz Russel’s Reserve 10 Year Old Bourbon
1 oz Lemon Juice
1/2 Egg White
1/2 oz Simple Syrup
3 Dashes Boker’s Bitters

Instructions

Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass with 2-3 ice cubes. Spoon extra foam to fill glass.

To get a rich and thick foam, shake all the ingredients without ice first.

I love this vintage cocktail glass. Notice how the thick foam looks like an ocean horizon line with the teal and golden seagulls flying in the foreground.
