Shake all ingredients with ice, strain and serve in a chilled glass with 3 to 4 ice cubes. Garnish with a cherry and dried slice of lemon or lime.
Vanilla sugar syrup
2 cups sugar
1 cup water
1 vanilla bean
Over medium heat, bring the sugar and water to a boil in a saucepan. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Lower heat, cover and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
While the syrup cools, split the vanilla bean lengthwise and place in a heatproof mason jar. Pour the syrup over the vanilla beans, cover, and let stand for 10 to 12 hours. Remove the bean and store in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks.
